Chandreyi Saha takes a look at some of the digtial oriented talks and events on the main programme at this year’s Digital Shoreditch, which runs from 11-24 May, 2015.

This year’s Digital Shoreditch Festival features a vast array of presentations, lightning talks, workshops, debates, fireside chats and installations, as the great and good of tech world congregate on Silicon Roundabout in London.

Grouped around daily themes – Make, Grow, Next, Connect and Live – the main programme promotes an interdisciplinary approach, which celebrates the innovation happening across the tech and creative worlds and converging industries.

With so much to see and do, here’s a quick guide to the arts oriented talks and events on this year’s busy schedule (in chronological order).

Spin Out Pitch Off – Digital Catapult – Wednesday 13 May, 5.00 pm

This exciting showcase evening is a unique opportunity to see some of the UK’s top technology innovators, spun out of our world-class universities, pitch their product or service to an audience of investors, researchers, entrepreneurs and advisors.

Future of Things – PwC – Wednesday 13 May, 5.45 pm

What could government look like in the future? Cybersecurity? Data? The way we work? At PwC’s Future of Things event, we’ll explore these ideas and more with a panel of visionaries, each of whom will take you on a journey to what could be. Come along and join the conversation!

MiniBar meets CultureTECH – MiniBar – Thursday 14 May, 6.30 pm

London’s top tech eerup MiniBar is teaming up with CultureTECH for a very special get together at mother-especially for Digital Shoreditch. Expect drinks, chat, startup demos and more drinks.

Data Visualisation for Urban Innovation – Future Cities Catapult – Thursday 14 May, 10.00 am-1.00 pm, 2.00-5.00 pm

A day of data visualization organized by our Cities Lab with a masterclass, presentations and displays of some of the best visualizations we’ve come across from SMEs and other partners.

London New Tech #10 – London New Tech – Thursday 14 May, 6.30pm

5 new tech startup companies will present their products and technology.

What’s so complex about creativity? – Shama Rahman, Jugular – Friday 15 May, 3.30pm

Join neuroscientist Dr Shama Rahman and award-winning science/performing art company, Jugular: Joining The Head and The Heart, as they demystify the science of creativity and how to access it through simple storytelling theatre techniques. Learn about the main stages of the creative process by getting creativity off the page, on its feet, and relating it to daily and professional life. Expect lateral thinking, problem solving, improvisation and a lot of fun.

Gerard Briscoe – Culture Hacks: The emergence of hackathons for culture – Friday 15 May, 4.35pm

An exploration of the emergence of hackathons as an effective approach to innovation with digital technologies across a large range of different spaces, including music, open data, fashion, academia and more. These ‘culture hacks’, Briscoe argues, enable such innovation through collaboration across the arts, technology and the creative industries.

UnGagged SEO/Digital Marketing Conferenece – UnGaged – Saturday 16 May, 8.30pm

Digital Shoreditch takes place in London from Monday 11 to Friday 24 May 2015. All the panels and talks take place at Shoreditch Town Hall.
