Building an MVP with Prototyping tool like an Aspirin

Whether a product is successful or not depends primarily not on its functional design. To adapt the needs of users is an important step; Therefore, UX design should naturally take a step ahead with prototyping tools. It’s also the key criterion deciding the success and failure of a product.
At Skyline, what we understand that a useful product provides either a good feeling or solves an urgent problem.
1. Identify needs or solve problems?
For us, customers are still king and customer satisfaction is everything. They perceive the world through sensual experiences. They can, however, estimate what is causing sufferings; But they are rarely sure of the best solution. Only very few of them are fully aware of their own needs and preferences. That is why it is easier to fight pain than to make pleasure. It is certain that no one likes to suffer.
2. Solve the problems of the customers
Another problem during the planning phase is the identification of indeterminate needs. Many may be able to name their pain but rarely have a suitable solution. The solution has to be conveyed to them almost by products. This is why someone buys an expensive iPod and not a cheap MP3 player, usually due to image language, emotions, and intangible values.
The focus should be put on solving problems when a product is being designed. What disturbs and frustrates customers? Why do they feel uncomfortable? It is equally important to know when and where they suffer the most. A product is always the easiest to sell when the point is caught. Thus, headache pills sell much easier than vitamins. A useful product is therefore like aspirin: it primarily reduces the pain.

3. Usefulness through prototyping
Minimum Viable Product: Instead of elaborate business plans, a prototype should be presented to investors and customers, and then it will be gradually expanded to a marketable end product. A good prototype to measure the utility of a product is a minimum viable product. It is the “slimmest” version of a product (Minimum), but it still shows its value (Viable). Through the publication of a prototype, important feedback from the consumer can be collected and integrated into the product, then you can analyze and dig out the user’s pain points.

A prototype is often described with the term “Fidelity”. Fidelity describes the degree of realism of the design and can vary in different aspects. As for fidelity, it can be visually from a wire frame composed of lines to the rich color and pictures, functionally from the static screen to the interactive prototype. Its content can vary from the lorem ipsum to the concrete content.
But choosing what kind of fidelity has no restrictive standards, as long as the test is economical and efficient. The use of some prototype tools can be simple and efficient to achieve the purpose. Some can draw a wireframe design, as the basis of HTML documents; some tools allow you to design and export prototype. Here are some useful prototyping tools:
Balsamiq Mockups
Balsamiq is a simple, efficient wireframe tool with an intuitive interface and easy to use. Layout elements such as buttons, menus can be easily added to the page, you can put your ideas into practice right away. In addition, based on Adobe Air Balsamiq can run offline on the browser and desktop, which is your effective assistant. But if you want to achieve interactive effects, then I recommend using the following tools.

With Invisionapp, you can easily create mockups for mobile and desktop apps. Without any programming knowledge, you can also master this easy-to-use tool. By simple drop & drag you can create interactions. Its pre-designed elements, like pop-up menus, sliding drawers, and picture carousels, are also worthy to be highlighted here. In addition, Invision supports team collaboration.
Axure RP
Axure is a veteran interactive prototyping software that enables efficient prototyping, quick drawing of wireframes, flow charts, web site diagrams, schematics, HTML templates, and more. It can help the product manager to quickly design a complete product prototype, combined with annotations, descriptions and flow charts, framework, product will be fully expressed to all designers. But Axure has a higher threshold for the novice, it will be very difficult to learn.
The usefulness of a product is thus measured by how it helps to solve the problems of the customers. Proper prototyping tool helps to avoid the risk of sales and investment. A useful and successful product not only reduces the pain on the customer side but also on the company side.
